16k for a car with 400hp that looks as classy at this? I need it in my life and I need it in my life now!!!!

and how! the cheapness doesn't stop at their price. Having been a 300 of that vintage I can tell you they are cheap, cheap, cheap!

I'm sorry. I love MOPAR, but I just don't think that this design has aged too well. Though regardless, in SRT8 guise, it's still awesome.

It even came as an estate (wagon).

It came with a better front end here:

Both look nice to my eye.

if I'm not mistaken that's a magnum srt8 with 300 front clip. Apparently it's a pretty common swap and can be done in minutes.
The 300 on Magnum looks brilliant.
However the same can't be said the other way away.

I personally would not trust an early 2k Chrysler. Having had an early 2k Chrysler I can say the plastics are flimsy, design not exactly planned out well and a whole bunch of half-assed elements.

FTFY
But seriously, these are awesome.

Na they actually made them, not sure if they sold them in the US though. There's only one on autotrader over here and it's ruined. Not much of a market for massive v8 estates in the UK. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/adv…

wiki says Europe, Australia and Latin America did get estate 300s. Though technically it is a still a Magnum with 300 interior, front clip, trim and interior, which I'm sure is nicer than what dodge put in the magnum.
This is also a 300 Magnum.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 17:02 |

they sold it as the 300 Estate in europe. It's a Magnum with a 300 front end (or the Magnum is a 300 estate with a new front clip, depending on what your point of reference is).
The Charger nose is also pretty much bolt-on, only needing custom fenders. This is known as a Chargum:
![]() 03/25/2015 at 17:06 |

I'd hate to see the interior of the Magnum if the interior is worse than the 300. I rode in a then two year old 60k mile 300c taxi and the interior was completely falling to pieces.

I'd go with a different $16k, 400hp luxury sedan...

...with a manual.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 17:06 |

the Chargum actually looks pretty mean. Do I want classy 300 wagon or angry chargum wagon?
![]() 03/25/2015 at 17:07 |

WHAT. Magnum bodied 300? How did I not know this was a thing!
![]() 03/25/2015 at 17:12 |

They're pretty rare, well the diesel ones aren't but the SRT8 is.

If it's a 5.7, I'd go with the 300c's classy grille.
for the SRT, full-on aggression is what you want.
OR, you can take the car which has been floating in my head ever since I bought my magnum:
facelifted charger front end with police push bar, SRT Viper wheels and a big Hellcat mill between the fenders.
Essentially this with a bigger engine:

But Looks! Looks! Looks! And Power! Power! Power!
![]() 03/25/2015 at 17:46 |

The normal 300 has not the more beefed up 300SRT8 has done a fine job looking retro yet modern. Also in black it is a thing of beauty.

BS I did not know that!

But but engine and it looks so good!
![]() 03/25/2015 at 17:49 |

The engine and looks make up for the cheap interior.

I never cared for the CTSV of this vintage. A tad too ugly for my taste.

That is the best kind of 300 Magnum

Well maintained they are very reliable. The only thing that scares me is the Mercedes NAG1 transmission.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 19:44 |
|
But it is such a mainstay on all the different Mopar products now parts should be semi easy to find I would hope.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 19:45 |

They sure are, just expensive.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 21:35 |
|
It's a 722.6. NAG1 generally refers to the first iteration of the 722.9. The .6 is quite good, aside from leaking at the electrical connector. But that costs about $10 and takes about 10 minutes.

If I wanted that kind of power in an old Mercedes chassis I would just get a 211 E55, lots more power and a newer chassis, for about the same amount of money. Plus you can't deny the Mercedes has way more class. Or for less money and much more reliability a 210 E55. A bit less power, lots less money, same chassis as your red-headed-step-child up there.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 21:46 |

Good to know. I'm not afraid of them if I know the history of the car.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 21:53 |

Generally one service every 75-100k is enough to prevent issues, even though they're supposed to beevery 40k. Even if they do have issues they're very fixable. I would trust them more than just about any GM or Honda trans.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 22:07 |

You are the AMG tech so you would know more than me but the SRT8 presents a value over both the Mercs I would assume with reliability and parts. Plus while the 211 looked great I think the 210 was a bit of a mess. Neither look as imposing as the SRT8 though.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 23:08 |
|
210 is probably most reliable of the three, and in my opinion looks much better than the Chrysler. But you have a point with parts cost, Mercedes stuff isn't cheap, especially when it's AMG stuff. There is no way I could live with the cheapness of the 300's interior, either. Last time I was in one I couldn't stop laughing at how terrible it was. Some of those things are completely objective for sure. To each his own.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 23:08 |

How is that ruined?
![]() 03/26/2015 at 08:42 |

Don't get me wrong I think Chrysler had possibly the worst interior of the 00's but the engine and looks would make up for it. Plus I love the front buckets on an SRT. I would never buy a base 300 far too boring.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 15:42 |

It definitely has some redeeming qualities.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 21:12 |

It was so angular when it debuted only to look bland next to modern Caddys. Back then, this generation gave off an F117 vibe I could really get behind.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 21:56 |
|
I agree at the time it was a great looking car. But it aged poorly due to another Caddy design.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 22:49 |

Totally agree. It just seems like a switched flipped and then it was bland.
I guess, I'd still get it over the SRT because it's generally more athletic feeling, vs the 300 havng more of a powerful cruiser vibe
